ITINERARY

Day 1: Siem Reap – Preah Khan Kampong Svay

Today, we depart from Siem Reap and embark on an exciting journey that features a thrilling off-road experience navigating through muddy, sandy, and jungle trails that lead us to isolated villages with stunning views of the Cambodian countryside and lush forests.

Then, our adventure ride takes us to the hidden temple of Preah Khan, which is lost deep in the jungle and has been fighting against the relentless encroachment of the overgrown jungle for its very survival. It is a majestic sight to behold and offers a unique experience for all who visit.

Spending the night at BeTreed Adventure on Tree House is an amazing experience and a great way to support the efforts of protecting one of Cambodia’s natural treasures – The Phnom Tnout Phnom Pok Wildlife Sanctuary. Spanning 42,000 hectares, this “Savannah” land is home to a vast variety of dry dipterocarp forests and numerous wildlife species. BeTreed Adventures is actively working on the frontline to help preserve this natural beauty for future generations.

Day 2: BeTreed – Koh Ker

After breakfast, it is time to bid farewell to our gracious host and set off along the isolated village path, passing through the lush rice fields, and riding through the mud and dirt to enjoy a refreshing stream crossing. Once refreshed, we can continue to the remote temple of Koh Ker.

Koh Ker is an ancient temple complex located in the dense, remote jungles of northern Cambodia. It was once the capital of the Khmer Empire and dates back to the 10th century. The site is mostly surrounded by lush forests and greenery, making it a breathtakingly beautiful location. The main structure, Koh Ker Temple, is an impressive 7-tiered stepped pyramid that stands out prominently among the other ruins in its vicinity. It remains a popular tourist destination for those looking to explore Cambodia’s rich culture and history.

FQAs

Visa & Passport

A valid passport with at least six months’ validity from the date of entry is required. Most nationalities can obtain a 30-day visa on arrival, which costs around $30. An e-visa is also available online and should be applied for before departure. Visa extensions can be arranged within the country if needed.

Local Currency

The Cambodian Riel (KHR) is the official currency, but US dollars are widely accepted. ATMs are available in cities and tourist areas, dispensing both currencies. It’s practical to carry small denominations for rural areas.

Local Sim Card

Local SIM cards are readily available in most cities in Cambodia. You can purchase SIM cards from providers such as Metfone, Smart, and Cellcard at airports, convenience stores, or telecom shops. Make sure your phone is unlocked and compatible with local networks.

Food and Dietary Requirements

Cambodian cuisine features rice, noodles, and fresh vegetables, often seasoned with herbs and spices. Street food is popular, but always choose vendors with high hygiene standards. Vegetarians and those with dietary restrictions will find a variety of options, though it’s wise to communicate specific needs clearly.

Weather

Cambodia has a tropical climate with two main seasons: wet and dry. The wet season runs from May to October, characterized by heavy rain and high humidity. The dry season, from November to April, is marked by little rainfall and higher temperatures, with the coolest months being December and January. Ideal travel months are November to February, when temperatures are more moderate.

Riding Experience

Cambodia’s terrain can be challenging, featuring a mix of paved roads, dirt tracks, and jungle paths. Prior off-road riding experience is highly recommended. New riders should start with shorter, guided tours to build confidence and skill.

Group Leader

A knowledgeable group leader enhances the experience by ensuring safety, providing local insights, and managing logistics. Our guides are well-trained with extensive local experience and good communication skills.

Non-Rider Activities

On most of our dirt bike trips, we offer non-riding options for riders who want to take the afternoon off, or for travel companions who prefer to spend little or no time on the dirt bike. Some of these options may need to be scheduled before your trip—please contact one of our Trip Planners for more information. Expenses and/or related transportation for these activities may not be included in the trip price.

Responsible Travel

Travel responsibly by respecting local customs and traditions. Avoid single-use plastics, support local businesses, and be conscious of the environment. Engage respectfully with local communities and contribute positively to their economy and culture.
