Your incredible Cambodian dirt bike adventure begins today. After a morning briefing in Siem Reap, we’ll start our engines and leave the city behind. The paved roads soon give way to the terrain you’ve been waiting for: a network of red dirt roads and winding sandy trails that pass through green rice paddies and traditional Khmer villages.
As we ride north, the landscape begins to change, with the majestic Kulen Mountain range rising on the horizon. This is where the real off-road challenge starts. We’ll navigate a thrilling, winding trail up the mountain, a sacred place considered the birthplace of the ancient Khmer Empire.
Our first major stop is Srah Damrei, or the “Elephant Pond.” Here, you’ll see life-sized stone sculptures of elephants and other animals guarding the sacred mountain, a hidden gem deep within the jungle that few travelers get to witness. After taking in these impressive ancient carvings, we’ll continue our ride through the heart of Kulen National Park.
The journey culminates at the famous Kulen Waterfall. Park your bike and take a well-deserved break. You can cool off with a refreshing swim in the tiered pools of the falls or simply relax and absorb the stunning natural beauty. We’ll also explore the nearby “River of a Thousand Lingas,” a riverbed intricately carved with Hindu deities and phallic symbols, and visit the serene, giant reclining Buddha at Preah Ang Thom pagoda.
As the day ends, we’ll settle into our accommodation at the Kulen foothill, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of the jungle.

After a night spent at the base of the sacred Kulen Mountain, today’s ride offers a fantastic mix of challenging jungle trails, ancient temple exploration, and a scenic return to Siem Reap. This is a day to test your skills on technical terrain and immerse yourself in the history hidden deep within the Cambodian countryside.
The adventure kicks off as we depart from the Kulen foothills and head straight into a network of exhilarating trails. The morning is dedicated to exploring the area around Poeng Ta Nan, a remote, jungle-clad escarpment. The riding here is superb, featuring a variety of single-track paths that wind through dense forest, over rocky outcrops, and across sandy riverbeds. This section requires focus and rewards with a true sense of backcountry adventure.
Our primary goal is to reach the secluded and rarely visited temple of Poeng Ta Nan. Hidden away from the main tourist routes, discovering this atmospheric ruin feels like a genuine exploration. We will take a break here to appreciate the solitude and the intricate carvings being slowly reclaimed by nature.
From Poeng Ta Nan, the journey continues on a series of fun, flowing trails that cut through bamboo groves and agricultural lands. The terrain gradually becomes less technical as we move out of the deep jungle and into more open countryside. You’ll ride through charming local villages and along dusty red roads, getting a wonderful glimpse of rural life.
As we approach the outskirts of Siem Reap, we’ll navigate through a final stretch of beautiful trails that wind through rice paddies and palm-fringed landscapes. This scenic ride offers a peaceful conclusion to the day’s off-road challenges. We will roll back into the city in the late afternoon, covered in dust and filled with a sense of accomplishment, with plenty of time to relax and reflect on an incredible day of riding.

A valid passport with at least six months’ validity from the date of entry is required. Most nationalities can obtain a 30-day visa on arrival, which costs around $30. An e-visa is also available online and should be applied for before departure. Visa extensions can be arranged within the country if needed.
The Cambodian Riel (KHR) is the official currency, but US dollars are widely accepted. ATMs are available in cities and tourist areas, dispensing both currencies. It’s practical to carry small denominations for rural areas.
Local SIM cards are readily available in most cities in Cambodia. You can purchase SIM cards from providers such as Metfone, Smart, and Cellcard at airports, convenience stores, or telecom shops. Make sure your phone is unlocked and compatible with local networks.
Cambodian cuisine features rice, noodles, and fresh vegetables, often seasoned with herbs and spices. Street food is popular, but always choose vendors with high hygiene standards. Vegetarians and those with dietary restrictions will find a variety of options, though it’s wise to communicate specific needs clearly.
Cambodia has a tropical climate with two main seasons: wet and dry. The wet season runs from May to October, characterized by heavy rain and high humidity. The dry season, from November to April, is marked by little rainfall and higher temperatures, with the coolest months being December and January. Ideal travel months are November to February, when temperatures are more moderate.
Cambodia’s terrain can be challenging, featuring a mix of paved roads, dirt tracks, and jungle paths. Prior off-road riding experience is highly recommended. New riders should start with shorter, guided tours to build confidence and skill.
